French transdisciplinary artist based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Represented by Michel Rein Gallery Paris - Brussels
She studied Art History at the University of Paris X-Nanterre and graduated in Visual Arts from the National Superior School of Arts of Paris-Cergy in 2005. In 2015, she undertook the Maumaus Independent Study Programme in Lisbon. She is currently studying Sound Engineering at World Academy, Carnaxide.
Elisa Pône manipulates both visual and sonic materials, showing a particular interest in ambivalence, excess, and double-bind effects. Attentive to context, she plays with dissonances and seeks to evoke the inner dynamics of exhibition spaces in their interaction with the works. She especially enjoys working with materials that express self-determination and which overbound their own limits—such as fireworks, waxes, polymers, as well as reflections and echoes. Their behaviour challenges the notion of authorship, much as collaborative works often do. Furthermore, their potential for transformation engages with the notion of duration, which is central to her research, with much of her production being time-based.
